Arlene M Fisher

November 15, 1925 — June 14, 2012

Arlene M. Fisher, 86, Altoona, died Thursday at Altoona Regional. She was born in Altoona, daughter of Charles Sr. and Catherine (Stephens) Bennett. She married James W. Fisher on June 16, 1946, in Altoona, and he died May 24, 2004. Surviving are a son, James Jr. (Deborah) of Altoona; two daughters: Connie Dively (Charles) of Martinsburg and Karen of Altoona; seven grandchildren: Beth Carr, Brenda McDonald, James Andrew Fisher, Gwen Ramos, Stefanie Fisher, Lianna Salisbury and Mark Ledford; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Bennett Jr. of Altoona. She was preceded in death by twin sons. Arlene was a 1943 graduate of Altoona High School and studied sign language at Mount Aloysius College. She retired as a general office clerk from the Pennsylvania Shoe Co. after 20 years of service. She was an active member of Altoona Alliance Church. Arlene taught American sign language at the Altoona Area Public Library and Tyrone-Snyder Public Library as well as at several churches. She enjoyed going to the seashore. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2012, at Altoona Alliance Church. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. www.maukandyates.com
