Eleanor M. Ranck, 89, of Juniata, died Tuesday morning at Golden Living Center Hillview. She was born in Juniata, a daughter of Herbert C. and Martha (Bergantz) Ranck. Surviving are a niece and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lewis Ranck and Glen (Bud) Ranck. Eleanor was a 1940 graduate of Altoona High School and attended Penn State University. She was a life member of Trinity Lutheran Church. For more than 20 years she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in many area nursing homes. She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II and retired from the U. S. Army Reserves in 1982 with 22 years service. She also retired from Mercy Hospital after more than 10 years service. She was a Life Member of the Juniata American Legion where she was a past commander and also served as adjutant for many years. She was a life member of the Central PA Humane Society where she served on the board in many capacities. She was also a life member of the Nittany Lion Club. Friends will be received from 10-11am Friday, July 6, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where funeral services will be held at 11am with Rev. Elizabeth Hess, officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
