Betty Louise (Weaver) Smith, 96, Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, died Thursday. She was born in Altoona, daughter of Warren R. and Margaret (Black) Weaver. She married W. Donald Smith on Oct. 12, 1957, in Altoona, and he died Jan. 12, 1994. Surviving are a nephew, Lynn J. Taylor and wife, Bridget, of Bellefonte; two nieces: Linda Casatelli and Marcia Bell; a great-nephew, Matthew Taylor; and four great-nieces: Emily Taylor, Molly Taylor, Shirley Adams and Carol Casatelli. Betty was a 1933 graduate of Altoona High School. She retired from the A&P Tea Co. in 1976, after 39 years of service in the accounting department. Betty was a member of Third Presbyterian Church, Altoona, where she had served as church treasurer for 12 years, sang in the church choir, played bells in the bell choir, played piano in Sunday school and was a member and treasurer of the 49ers class. Prior to her marriage, she was a member of Ward Avenue Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, served as a deacon and was a member of the 20th Century class. She was a member of the YWCA Chorus and was affiliated with the choir of First United Methodist Church, Altoona, for a number of years. She also belonged to AARP, Chapter 2832. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. by Pastor Richard Ginter.
