William P. "Butch" Marks Jr., 65, Duncansville, died Friday morning at home. He was born in Altoona, son of William P. and Anna C. (Rager) Marks. He married Virginia "Ginny" McConnell on Aug. 12, 1978, in Altoona. Surviving are his wife; three stepsons: Christopher McConnell and wife, Veronica, of Columbus, Ohio, Brian McConnell and wife, Theresa, of Altoona and Darren McConnell and wife, Tammi, of Altoona; three grandchildren: Isaac, Caitlyn and Ryan McConnell; five stepgrandchildren; an aunt, Carley Webber in Florida; and several cousins. Butch was a graduate of Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He had been employed as a welder at Norfolk Southern until 2001. He was a member of Sinking Valley Country Club and the Altoona Area High School Alumni Association. Butch enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, golfing, hunting and fishing. After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and was the founder of The Scroll Works. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, followed by a funeral service at noon by Pastor Chris Thomas. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home Nursing Agency Hospice or to St. Leonard's Home, Hollidaysburg, in memory of his mother, Anna C.
