Norman E. Oster, 71, Altoona, died Thursday morning at Altoona Regional. He was born in Bedford, son of the late David and Myrtle (Nave) Oster. He married Lynda J. Nail on March 15, 1990, in Winchester, Va. Surviving are his wife of Altoona; children: Norman E. Oster, II (Missy), Mark A. Oster (Susan), Pamela Sechoka, and Adam Oster (Emily); step children: Brian Wolford, Michele McCaulley and Dawn Renee' Brallier; grandchildren: Erica, Meagan, Alyshia, John IV, and Atticus; step-grandchildren: Lindsey, Danica, Anisa, Austin, Destiny, Christopher, Cassandra, Katie, Kelley, Justin, and Jonathon; great-grandchildren: Jansen, and one expected in October; step great-grandchildren: Jason, Jr., Abel, and Damien; two sisters Dortha (Robert) and Diane (Mack). He was preceded by a brother Robert. Norman retired from Cookson Electric as an accountant. He was a graduate of Bedford High School, and received his Associates Degree in Accounting from Altoona School of Commerce. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Assembly of God, and was also a passionate volunteer for Blair County Genealogical Society, and had been affiliated with the Everett Railroad. Friends will be received from 2-5 PM Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where a memorial service will be held at 5 PM. Interment at Bedford Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blair Co. Genealogical Society.
