Norman L. "Pete" Marks, 77, Riggles Gap, passed away Friday at Altoona Regional after a brief illness. He was born in Juniata, son of the late John C. and Ina (Kerstetter) Marks. He married Carol A. Foose on June 23, 1956, in Juniata and they shared 56 years of marriage. Surviving are his wife, Carol; a son, Jeffrey A. Marks; daughter-in-law, Judi A. Marks; a brother, John C. (Pat) Marks and family; sister-in-law, Dorothy I. Morrison and family; Aunt Pearl Filer and family; Aunt Genevieve Stahl and family; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Barry L. "Yogi" Marks on Aug. 5, 2001. Pete was a 1952 graduate of Altoona High School. He worked at A&P Bakery for 27 years and retired from Bellwood-Antis School District on Oct. 24, 1996. He was a life member of Altoona High School Alumni Association and Riggles Gap Sportsmans Club. Pete had been an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the time he spent at his cottage in Coburn, Centre County. He enjoyed planting his garden and giving away the fruits of his labor. Pete was a wonderful husband and father and was blessed with many friends and their families. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pete's memory may be made to Riggles Gap Bible Church.
