William E Shannon

William E. Shannon, Sr, 80, Bellwood, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at his home. He was born in Altoona, son of the late William P. and Mabel (Green) Shannon. Surviving are his children: Dora L. Ferry and husband Ronald of Altoona, William E. Shannon, Jr., and his wife Suzanne of Gallitzin, Phyllis J. Garhart and husband David of Altoona, Brian P. Shannon of Geeseytown, Michael A. Shannon and wife Tina of North Carolina, Cindy A. Burd and husband William of Altoona, and Gregory and his wife Lori Shannon of North Carolina; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 5 sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Eugene Shannon. William owned and operated Shannon's Hauling Service for many years. He attended Riggles Gap Bible Church. He enjoyed hunting and loved his animals. Friends will be received from 9-11 AM Monday, September 17, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where a memorial service will be held at 11 AM, with Rev. William Ice, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Central Pa Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
