Maxine L. Romine, 85, formerly of East Juniata, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday morning at Valley View Home. She was born in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Harry and Vera (Vaughn) Greenawalt. She married George E. Romine and he preceded her in death on January 18, 1984. Surviving are one son, George I. Romine and wife Joanne of Altoona, three daughters, Trudy M. Forsht and husband John of Allentown, Dianna M. Itkowsky and husband Frank of Leominster, MA, Carol A. Taylor and husband Jay of Concord NC, daughter in law Joyce Romine of Altoona, 12 grandchildren, Christine, Melanie, Wendy, John, Kimberly, Elizabeth, Marissa, Mark, Joshua, Casey, Alyssa, Douglas, four great grandchildren and one due any day, three sisters, Betty, Jean and Joanne, all of Philipsburg. She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Mark and one sister Lois. Maxine loved to bake and also loved gardening. In her younger years she was very active by taking in sick foster children and nursing them back to health. Friends will be received from 6-8p.m., Friday, September 21, 2012, and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012, at the funeral home with Rev. Reynolds Baldwin, officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
