Margaret M Smith

Margaret M. "Margie" Smith, 89, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday after an extended illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Herman F. Sr. and Anna (Richards) Morgan. Surviving are three children: Richard of Vandergrift, Bonnie Luther of Powder Springs, Ga., and Kenneth and wife, Lori, of Altoona; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Doris Hauk and Lillian Marko; a brother, Austin Morgan; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill E. Smith, on Dec. 2, 1974; and a brother, Herman Jr. Margie was a member of Simpson-Temple United Parish and had recently attended Bethany Lutheran Church, and she had been active in numerous church activities over the years. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Bethany Lutheran Church, the Rev. Paula Schmitt officiating.
