Joseph P Strasser

Joseph P. Strasser, 84, Altoona, died Sunday morning at Altoona Regional. He was born in Altoona, son of Joseph and Grace (Redenberger) Strasser. He married Mona Sue Wilson on Nov. 21, 1950, in Tennessee, and she died Dec. 24, 1999. Surviving are a son, Gary J. (Pam) of Altoona; three grandchildren: Denise Bersuder and husband, Michael, Heidi Barr and husband, Jeff, and Derek Strasser and wife, Stephanie; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Marie Steinbeiser; and his companion of 12 years, Dorothy Sands. He was preceded in death by a son, Craig. Joseph was a graduate of Altoona High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired as an assistant lead man from Penn Jacobson Co. after many years of service. He attended Grace Family Bible Church and was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, Unter Uns and Riggles Gap Sportsmen's Club. Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Friends will be received from 1 until the 3 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, Pastor James Zaebst officiating.
