Merwyn L. Trexler, 78, of Altoona died early Sunday morning at his home. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Gordon and Charlotte (Slemmer) Trexler. He married Carol M. Hostler on Jan. 15, 1957, in Altoona. Surviving is his wife of 55 years; two sons: Terry L. Trexler and his wife, Lauri, of Bellwood and Tim S. Trexler and his wife, Deanna, of Hollidaysburg; three grandchildren: Tom Trexler, Caryn Trexler and Carissa Trexler; and a niece and a nephew. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Trexler. Merwyn was employed at Penelec, retiring as a chief meter tester and installer after 31 years of service. He graduated from Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church, where he served as assistant treasurer and also helped in the nursery. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, fishing, hunting and watching sports. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Faith Baptist Church, 315 40th St., Altoona, with the Rev. Gary Dull officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Center in Bellwood or Faith Baptist Church, Altoona. www.maukandyates.com
