Jean Wible, 82, Altoona, died early Monday at Altoona Regional. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Ray and Dorothy (Houck) Hurley. She married Donald R. Wible November 25, 1951, in Huntingdon, PA. Surviving is her husband Donald of 61 years; four children: Steven Max Wible and his wife Juniata of Hong Kong, Donna Jean Cruse and her husband Drew of Hollidaysburg, David Scott Wible and his wife Ying-Ying of Taipei, Taiwan, Melissa Linn Wible of Hollidaysburg; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; one brother Edmund "Bud" Hurley of Huntingdon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Rebecca Hurley, Joan "Jo" Corbin, Margaret "Peg" Haring, and one brother James Hurley. Jean graduated from Huntingdon High School, and then from the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing, where she received the Bedside Nurse Award upon graduation. She was a dedicated homemaker, and had also served as a Registered Nurse at Altoona Hospital, Hillview Nursing Home, and in private duty nursing. From the time Jean gave her life to Christ as a young adult, she lived a full life of service, leading women's prayer groups, teaching Sunday School, and providing after-school Bible classes to young people. She touched all those who knew her with her empathy, warmth, and selfless compassion. Above all, she will be remembered for the joy she took in serving others. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday, November 30, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., and from 2-3 PM Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Frankstown Road, Hollidaysburg, with Pastor Mark R. Brown, officiating. Interment at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
