James M Elder

Mr. James Mack Elder, 64, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. Mr. Elder was born in Hornell, NY to the late Donald Mack Elder and Julia Knight Elder. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Nichols Elder. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 43 years of service. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, enjoyed playing golf and helping his friends and neighbors. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Rhoades Elder of Pooler; daughters, Amy Elder of Altoona, PA and Major Holly Cribb (Major Michael Cribb) of El Paso, TX; grandson, James Cribb; step-sons, Chad Rhoades (Karen) of Altoona, PA and Michael Rhoades of Pittsburgh, PA; sister, Sally Soules (Bill) of Rochester, NY; brother, John Elder (Barb) of Horseheads, NY and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, December 6. Interment at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may made to the Railroaders Memorial Museum.
