Dennis Wayne McArthur, 63, Altoona, died Monday at his residence. He was born in Altoona, son of George W. and Phyllis E. (Brown) McArthur. He had been married to Cheryl (Detwiler) McArthur for many years, who survives him. Surviving are two daughters: Shelby L. (Erik) Liebegott of Lewistown and Erin L. (Thomas) Chandler of Duncansville; five granddaughters: Abigail, Ava and Alivia Liebegott and Hallee and Rilynn Chandler; his a brother, George W. in Florida; a sister, Sheryl F. Umstead of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 1990 and his mother in 1993. Dennis was a 1967 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He worked at the Schwarzenbach-Huber Co. from 1967-76 and retired from Norfolk Southern as a locomotive engineer in 2007 with 30 years of service. He volunteered many hours at Altoona Regional for two years. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. memorial service Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg, the Rev. Amy Raser, officiating.
