Connie Jane Kauffman, 72, Altoona, passed away peaceably Wednesday at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Merrill G. Sr. and Pauline I. (Harshberger) Yeager. She married Sheldon R. Kauffman on June 18, 1960. Surviving are her loving husband; two children: Sherry L. Moses and husband, Greg, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Stephen R. of Philadelphia; three grandchildren: Justin Kauffman, who was raised in the home, and Ian Thomas, both of Fredericksburg, Va., and Brittany Layne of Woodford, Va.; nine great-grandchildren, two brothers: Merrill G. "Pete" Yeager Jr. and wife, Sally, of Duncansville and Harry A. Yeager and wife, Louise, of Altoona; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Connie graduated from Altoona High School and retired from Sears & Roebuck after 23 years of service. She was lovingly cared for by the nurses at Hospice and Home Helpers. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata, by Pastors Elizabeth Hess and Kathy Colebank. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
