Amber Lois Loucks, 87, Altoona, formerly of Juniata, went to meet the Lord Jesus Christ, whom she knew as Savior, Wednesday morning at Valley View Home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of Alfred and Hazel (Bennett) Lysinger. She married Theodore Loucks on June 14, 1946, and he died Sept. 25, 1999. Surviving are three children: Janet Blazevich and husband, Mike Seymore, of Townsend, Mont., J. Kenneth and wife, Debra, of Bellwood and James F. Loucks and wife, Billie Jo, of Alum Bank; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three siblings: Alfred Lysinger, Eleanor Laughlin and Ronald Lysinger; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Amber was a 1943 graduate of Altoona High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Salvation Army. She belonged to the Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary, was a certified peer counselor and activities coordinator at Valley View Home as well as a volunteer on the decorating committee, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed her baking classes at Valley View and baking cookies for Keystone Elementary School. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, all of which is taking place at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the activities fund at Valley View Home or to the Salvation Army.
