Candace J. "Candy" Tate, 60, Altoona, passed away peacefully Thursday at home after a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis. She was born in Altoona, daughter of William and Joyce (Dixon) Graham and stepdaughter of James H. Vance. Surviving are her mother; a daughter, Kristee Brubaker and husband, Robert, with whom she resided; four grandchildren: Dylyn, Chelsey, Tyler and Willa; two great-grandsons: Landon and Deveron; three sisters: Jo Graham, Casie Dougal and husband, Howard, and Billie Jo Politi and husband, Dennis; a stepsister, Jackie Walter; two stepbrothers: James M. and John Vance; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; her stepfather; a sister, Dusty; and her grandparents. Candy was a 1970 graduate of Altoona Area High School. She formerly was employed by Modern Communications as a telephone secretary. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata. Committal will be at Blair Memorial Park.
