Byron F. O'Donald, 91, of Altoona, died Friday at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Clarence A. and Mabel A. (Kaylor) O'Donald. Surviving are five children, June Casella(Don ) of Huntingdon, Alma O'Donald Vance of Altoona, Byron F. O'Donald, Jr.(Angie) in New Mexico, Debora A. Horton(Chester), of Hollidaysburg, Ginny Kay Carnell of Altoona, many grandchildren and many great grandchildren and his ex-wife Phyllis Buchanan O'Donald. He was preceded in death by one daughter Linda Carol, one granddaughter Kerrie Marie, three brothers, one sister and two ex-wives, Janet Boyles O'Donald and Verneda Brown O'Donald. He retired as an engineer for Conrail in 1977 after more than 36 years service. He served in the Army during World War II. He was an avid hunter but his main interest was tinkering with small engines, especially steam engines and at one time he ran the steam engine at the former Bland Park. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 11am Friday, with Rev. Sharon Erb, officiating.
