Annabelle Mae Coffman, 93, of Altoona, died Friday morning at the Lutheran Home @ Hollidaysburg. She was born in Huntingdon, a daughter of the late Chester and Zella (Curtin) Varner. She married Raymond Coffman on November 25, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1976. Surviving are two sons, Donald and wife Tracy of Hollidaysburg, Mark Stevens and wife Margie of Winchester, VA, many grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Raymond and Ronald and two brothers, Chester and George. She graduated from Altoona High School in 1939. During World War II, she worked on Destroyer Escorts as a welder for American Car and Foundry Shipbuilding Company in Wilmington, Delaware where she was known as "Rosie the Riveter". Following the war she worked in the cutting department at Penn Shoe Factory then for GTE-Sylvania. She was a volunteer secretary for the Community Action Agency. Her hobbies included camping at Lake Raystown and enjoyed going on Waddington Bus tours to the Atlantic City Casinos and the Gateway Clipper Cruise Ships in Pittsburgh. Annabelle wanted people to know that the "Lord" has gotten her through the tough times and that she had a good life. Friends will be received from 10am to 1pm, Monday, July 29, 2013 at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, with the Rev. Dr. D. L. Brinton Shafer, officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
