Edith I Shepard

Edith I. Shepard, 87, of Altoona, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at Golden Living, Hillview surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late William and Anna (Lind) Luke. She was twice married, first to Mahlon Hauk who died in 1948, then in 1955, she married Richard Shepard who preceded her in death in 1996. Surviving is her daughter Donna Ritts, of Altoona, four grandchildren, Vicki Notaro(Dennis) of San Diego, CA, Lori McGeary(Kevin) of Altoona, Billy Olson of Altoona and Chelsea Ritts of Altoona, two great grandsons, Justin McGeary(Tania), Kevin McGeary and one great-great grandson, Malachi McGeary, all of Altoona. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Mel Ritts. Edie was a member of First Lutheran Church, Altoona. She was self-employed, having been owner/operator of Flecks Dress Shop which was family owned for over 100 years in Juniata, retiring in 2005. Friends will be received from 11am until the 1pm funeral service on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata, with Rev . Thomas Ekstrand, officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
