June N. (Mearkle) Imler, 86, of Altoona died peacefully Saturday surrounded by family. She was born in Altoona, daughter of Samuel and Minnie May (Walters) Marks. She was twice married; first to James R. Mearkle, whom she married in May of 1946 in Cumberland, Md. He died in December of 1989. On Sept. 26, 1993, she married Gerald A. Imler. He died on March 26, 2011. She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Hatch and husband, Tim, of Altoona; a son, Scott Mearkle and wife, Nancy, in New Jersey; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter Marks and wife, Donna; a sister, Harriet Walz, all of Altoona; and two daughter-in-laws: Sandy Mearkle and Diane Beuti. She was preceded in death by three sons: Greg, Denny and Doug Mearkle; and a sister, Esther. June was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Altoona High School, Class of 1944. June was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, going to casinos, singing in the church choir, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood United Methodist Church, by Pastor Joe Fleck. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
