Jacqueline G. "Boots" Packard, 81, Altoona, died Thursday after a long and courageous journey with kidney disease. She was born in Altoona, the third child of Max and Thelma (Smith) Schroeder. She married Harold William Packard on March 24, 1950, in Altoona, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 1991. Surviving are four children: Harold Jr. (Susan) of Lakemont, Pamela Glass (Art) of Williamsburg, Sydney of Altoona and Lee (Esther) of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren: Gary, Jimmy, Steve, Lee, Harold, Jacki, Melissa, Crystal, Heather and Jessica; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Robert Schroeder (Judy) of Greenwood and Edward Schroeder of Altoona; and two sisters: Patty Harter of Altoona and Tanta Mountain (Bob) of Altoona. She was preceded in death by two sons: Max and Wilbur; and a daughter, Deborah Lykens. Jacqueline had been previously employed by James Industries and the Fountain Motel. She enjoyed bowling, bingo and her dog, Rosie, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m., the Rev. Jerry Stumpf officiating.
