Ruby Mae (Wentz) Hoover, 94, Altoona, died Saturday morning at her home. She was born in Mount Union, daughter of the late Jerome and Mae Maud (Benner) Wentz. She married Grove "Dutch" Hoover on July 27, 1940. He preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 2000, after 60 years of marriage. Surviving are her son, Glenn "Butch" Hoover and wife, Barbara (Brown), of Altoona, daughter Barbara Workinger and husband, Jerry, of Edgewood, Md.; five grandchildren: Shelley Stessney, Glenn Hoover, Rick Hoover, Suzanne Schafer and Gary Workinger; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Verna Barben of Newton Hamilton, Josephine Fasick of Mount Union and Jane Kirk and husband, Bob, of Fairfield, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Edward Hoover and wife, Jane, of Pittsburgh; a sister-in-law, Dean Wentz, of Newton Hamilton; and numerous nieces and nephews from the Wentz and Hoover families. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Kelligan, and husband, Kelly; a brother, Harvey Wentz; brothers-in-law: Jack Barben and Jack Fasick; and a grandson, Mike Hoover. Mrs. Hoover was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the Juniata Presbyterian Church since 1941. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home Inc., where a funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. with the Rev. John Collins, officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
