Geraldine G. "Gerry" Wiedemann, of Altoona, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday evening at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Frederick J. and Emma S. Endres. She married Richard M. Wiedemann on February 26, 1943 at Calvary Baptist Church, Altoona. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2001. Surviving are three sons, Allen and his wife Ardy of Duncansville, Van and his wife Sandi of Duncansville, Cal and his wife Carol of Altoona, Connie Brown and her husband Barry of Altoona, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one sister, Esther. She was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Jean and one grandson, Rob Mauk. Gerry was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 30 years, was a youth leader for 18 years and sang in the choir for 55 years. She was also involved in a ministry working with hurting people for 25 years and Youth for Christ for 9 years. She loved singing with her husband in church and with a ladies trio. During her working years, she worked in the Altoona High School cafeteria office for one year, was a bookkeeper for Myers Bros. Florist for three and one half years, Wissingers office for 7 years and was office manager at Jubilee Foods for 13 years. She was a graduate of Altoona High School, class of 1941. Friends will be received from 6-8pm Wednesday, December 4, 2013, and from 9am to 11am, Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Calvary Baptist Church, 810 Ruskin Drive, Altoona, followed by a funeral service at 11am Thursday with Cal Wiedemann, officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or Day One of Greater Altoona, 1212-13th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601.
