Anna B Harpster

September 30, 1919 — December 29, 2013

Anna B. Harpster, 94, formerly of Juniata Gap, died Sunday morning at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Samuel and Lyda (Glunt) Hoffman. She married Robert C. Harpster on Sept. 30, 1937. He preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1981. Surviving are three sons: Samuel W. Harpster of Altoona, John L. Harpster and wife, Linda, of Hollidaysburg, Robert A. Harpster and wife, Cheryl, of Altoona; six grandchildren: Jon Harpster, Daniel Harpster, Justine Freeman and husband, Mitch, of Pottstown; Kim LoPresti and husband, Joe, of Middletown, Conn.; Christopher Harpster of Altoona and Jessica George and husband, Jacob, of Lakemont; and four great grandchildren: Conner, Brooke, Joseph and Logan of Middletown, Conn. She was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Hoffman; and three sisters; one granddaughter, Denise Harpster; and one great grandson, Brooks Emry George. She graduated from Altoona High School in 1937. She played in the Altoona High all-girls drum and bugle corps. She was a charter and life member of Wehnwood United Methodist Church and a charter and life member of the Juniata Gap Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary. She worked in alterations at W. F. Gables. She liked to go camping, watching drum corps shows and listening to the Gaither Brothers. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 30, 2013, and from 12 noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Evelyn Madison, officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
