David Robert Gracey Sr., 64, Juniata, died Saturday morning at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh. He was born in Altoona, son of Laura Gene (Hess) Gracey and the late Robert E. Gracey. He married Deborah Ann Gunsallus on Aug. 20, 1971. Surviving are his wife, Debbie, of more than 42 years; three children: daughter Nicole Greenwood, son David R. Gracey Jr. and his wife, Amanda, daughter Lindsey Asher; seven grandchildren: Sidney, Corey, Sky, Gavin, Gabryell, Sayge and Charles; and two sisters: Rebecca Klock and husband, John, and Linda McAleer and husband, Larry; his mother, Laura Gene Gracey; and his dog, Dax. He was an engineering supervisor at UPMC Altoona. He owned and operated David R. Gracey Mechanical and Electrical Contracting business. He also was a videographer for the Altoona Curve, filmed weddings and multiple community events. David belonged to Hiram Lodge 616, F. & A.M., the Jaffa Shrine and the Jaffa String Band. He was a 1967 graduate of Altoona High School and served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 408 N. 6th Street, Juniata, where a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Elizabeth Hess, officiating. Interment at Blair Memorial Park with Military Honors will follow the service. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata. All funds will go to support Ryan Carruthers from Altoona, friends of the Gracey Family, and his long expected recovery from his recent stem cell transplant.
