Eleanor J Nedimyer

January 3, 1926 — July 20, 2014

Eleanor (O'Leary) Nedimyer, 88, died Sunday morning at Graystone Manor. She was born in Juniata, a daughter of John Robert and Catherine O'Leary and married to her true love, Augustine (Cal) Nedimyer in 1943 at Holy Rosary Church. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1986. She is survived by her son, Michael Nedimyer and his wife Gail from Altoona and daughter, Karen Longenecker and her husband Chuck from Carlisle; 5 grandsons - Sean, Reid and Kent Nedimyer, Chris Longenecker, his wife Shana, Brian Longenecker and his wife Christina; and 4 great grandchildren, her sister Betty Lou King, her husband Ed, and numerous nieces and nephews. She attended Altoona High School, and received her GED when she was 50 years old. Eleanor worked at Sylvania/GTE/North American Phillips for 39 years. Eleanor was a member of St Mark's Church; she enjoyed camping and was a charter member of the Horseshoe Drifters. Eleanor was a world traveler, an avid reader and bird watcher, and truly loved spending time with her family, to include her pup, Ellie. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and for her kindness to everyone she met. She was truly one of God's treasures. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8pm, Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Inc. where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 7:45 pm Wednesday. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Thursday, July 24, 2014 at St Mark's Catholic Church, the Rev Ronald Osinski, Celebrant. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
