Mary E Michael

Mary E. Michael, 85, of Valley View Home, formerly of Woomer Road, Altoona, passed peacefully to her Heavenly Home Sunday morning. She was born in Mahaffey, PA, the daughter of the late Raymond and Helen (Yingling) Pierce. She married Thomas J. Michael September 18, 1946 and he preceded her in death March 8, 2012. Mrs. Michael retired from Safety-Bak as a trimmer after many years' service. She was a member of Juniata United Methodist Church. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, camping, and fishing. Surviving are three daughters Sandra Michael and Brenda Michael, both of Altoona, and Judy Pogue, (Jeff), of Port Matilda; 8 grandchildren Amy Hughes, Malia Hughes, Jocelyn McCracken, Lori Hughes, Tom Pogue, Jason Pogue, C.J. Boyles, and Alyssa Boyles; 5 great grandchildren: Zoe, Nyah, Neva, Carter, and one due in January; 3 nieces; and one brother, Floyd Pierce, (Florence), of Mahaffey. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Juniata United Methodist Church, where a Funeral l Service will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Brent Salsgiver officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Juniata United Methodist Church's Angel Foot Ministry.
