Ralph S. Housley, Jr. (Sam), 83, of Altoona, died, Wednesday evening, after an extended illness. He was the son of the late Ralph and Regina (Moore) Housley. He graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1949 and enlisted in the United States Navy. He was later employed by the Juniata Silk Mill and retired after 43 years of service. He also retired from the United State Naval Reserves with 20 years of service and was a veteran of the Korean War. Ralph was a member of the Wehnwood United Methodist Church. In his past time, he enjoyed bowling, boating, hunting, snowmobiling, baseball and most sports. He is survived by his loving wife, Sara (Allison) Housley, of which he was married to for 62 years; two children: Janine Hawk and husband Dan, of Centre Hall and Robert Housley and wife Robin, of Dysart; four grandchildren: Aaron and Jennifer Hawk and David and Bryan Housley; and one sister: Kathleen Mutzabaugh of Oak Grove, Minnesota. Friends will be received from 6-8pm Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata, and from 10-11am Monday, August 11, 2014, at Wehnwood United Methodist Church, 2511 Juniata Gap Rd, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am., with Rev. Evelyn Madison, officiating. Interment at Alto Reste Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wehnwood United Methodist Church, 2511 Juniata Gap Road, Altoona, PA. 16601.
