Ellis Herbert Plowman

Ellis Herbert Plowman February 26, 1937 - September 17, 2014 Ellis "Herb" Herbert Plowman, 77, Altoona, passed away Wednesday morning at UPMC-Altoona. He was the son of the late Ellis Sylvester and Dora Rosetta (Wilt) Plowman. He married Bonnie Sue in 1982 in Woodstock, Virginia. Ellis was a prison guard for the Blair County Prison and a member of the American Legion Post 199. He was in the Marine Corps and enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially being a DJ. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter: Diane Henry of Wyoming; two sons: Jeffrey and Thomas Plowman of Altoona; three step-sons: Casey Baker of Altoona, Dale Baker of Chambersburg, and Glenn Baker of Woodstock, Virginia; several grandchildren; one sister: Bonnie Keith of Altoona; and six brothers: Rev. Ronald, Gerald, Kenneth, Carle, Denny, and David Plowman of Altoona. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Carol Jean Bowmaster and Connie Coldwell and five brothers: John, Mona, Freddie, Emmitt, and Robert. A service will be held by the family at a later date.
