Dorothy Helen Brumbaugh, 94, Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, died Saturday morning at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Juniata, daughter of the late John D. and Alma (Nelson) Brumbaugh. Surviving are several cousins: Roy and Arlene Glass, Ellen Teeter, and Brenda Dively. Dorothy was the last surviving member of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, John Nelson Brumbaugh. Dorothy was a 1938 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1942 graduate of Juniata College. She spent 40 years as an elementary teacher in the Altoona Area School District. She loved children and felt blessed for the opportunity to work with them. She retired in 1982 from Noble School and was a life member of the Teachers? Association. Dorothy was a member of Altoona Grace Brethren Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active in the Women's Group. Family and friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, Pastor Roy Glass and Pastor Rod Lingenfelter officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Altoona Grace Brethren Church, 109 W. 14th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
