R. Donald Emery

R. Donald "Don" Emery, 87, Altoona, passed away Thursday evening at the Hillview Chateau. Born in Altoona, he was the son of the late Howard M. and Helen (Lehner) Emery. He married Regina B. (Raeder) on November 28, 1948 in Altoona; she preceded him in death on September 30, 2006. Don was an Altoona Area High School graduate and owned and operated Emery's Barber Shop in Juniata for many years. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and the Jaffa Shrine Temple, and the Logan Lodge #490, F & AM. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He is survived by one daughter: Sandra E. of Altoona; two sons: Donald H. (Cindy) of Altoona, and Jeffrey C. and friend Karen Mazzarese of Scotch Valley; and 3 grandchildren: Tyler Emery of Altoona, Kylie Emery and fiancé Mike Hood of Willow Grove, and Craig Emery of Scotch Valley. He was preceded in death by four sisters: Suzanne Appleman, Elaine Cole, Rebecca Linn, and Jean Bickel; one infant granddaughter: Katherine Marie Emery; and one daughter in law: Susan Emery. Family and friends will be received at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata, Sunday, December 7, from 2 until the 6 PM funeral service with Pastor Barry Folmar, officiating.
