Leo James Fornari, 79, Altoona, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, of lung cancer. His wife, Sara Jane Fornari, 73, Altoona, also passed away Wednesday at UPMC Mercy, Pittsburgh, after complications from surgery. Leo was born Dec. 4, 1935, in Nanty Glo, son of Joseph and Clara Fornari. Sara was born June 18, 1941, in Tyrone, daughter of Harold and Bertha Sprankle. Surviving are five daughters: Peggy (Tim) Koelle, Penny (Donny) Dunn, Genevieve (Mike) Dinsel, JoAnn Riggleman and Angel (Pete) Patterson; three sons: Billy Diehl, Kevin Diehl and Daniel (Wanda) Diehl; 25 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Leo is also survived by two siblings: Rosie Soslarski and Chuck; and he was preceded in death by eight siblings: Clara Cross and Tony, Joe, Jim, George Curly, Pauline, Mary and Josephine Fornari. Sara is survived by three siblings: Helen Shock and Benny and Robert Sprankle; and was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Hale. A memorial service will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at Sovereign Grace Church, 109 Bellview St., Altoona.
