Nancy Lee (Stacey) Fornwalt, 63, of Altoona, died peacefully Tuesday at home following a courageous year-long battle with Leiomyosarcoma. She was born in Fort Worth, TX, daughter of the late William M. and Margaret (Shay) Stacey. She married Thomas J. Fornwalt on October 9, 1987, at the 58th Street United Methodist Church in Altoona. Surviving are her husband; three children: Tammy Wertz of Indiana, Thomas Hembrey of Kentucky, and Teri Lion of Altoona; five grandchildren: Amber (Nikki) Williams, Justin Wertz, Samantha Hembrey, Kaitlyn Hembrey, and Corey Lion; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers: Steve and wife Mary Jo Stacey, and Danny and wife Cindy Melley; two aunts; Mildred Smith and Cricket Alianello; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother and his wife, Richard (Dick) and Kay Stacey and also her son-in-law, Christopher M. Lion. Nancy was a 1969 graduate of Altoona Area High School. She retired working in the Post Office from Thompson's Pharmacy on Chestnut Avenue. She was a member of Juniata United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, watching Christmas movies all year, cooking family dinners, and spending time with her family. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 PM with a memorial service to follow on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Juniata United Methodist Church, Altoona, the Rev. Brent Salsgiver officiating, interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
