William Roy Drugg, 88, Altoona, passed away early Friday morning at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Clyde T. and Frances N. (Dobson) Drugg. He married Betty Lou Ross on May 1, 1948 in Lewistown, PA. Surviving are his wife, Betty Lou; one daughter: Teresa Lou Batrus and husband Denny, of Altoona; one son: William R. Drugg and wife Lori, of Bellwood; two grandchildren: Stacy Blackie(John) and Jamie Batrus (Matt Pope); four great grandchildren: Emilee and Charlee Pope, Cody and Casey Blackie; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Vicki Jane and brother, Clyde E. Bill was a 1944 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He retired after 32 years of service from Morton Salt Company where he worked in sales. Special interests included his family, sports, and wood crafts. He also took courses in small engine repair and computers at Altoona Vo-Tech. He served in the Army during WWII with the 69th Infantry in the European Theatre and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. In addition to receiving the Combat Infantryman's Badge, he also received the Army of Occupation Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the Bernard Albert Good VFW Post, Juniata, the Juniata American Legion, the Altoona Association of Manufacturers Representatives, and served as a Master of Ceremonies in the Altoona area for many years. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, Monday, February 2, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. and from 10 until the 11 AM funeral service, Tuesday, February 3, at First Church of Christ, Juniata Gap Road with Pastor John Collins officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
