Kenneth "Ken" A. Miller, III, 48, Altoona, died Wednesday morning at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of Kenneth A., II, and Donnis R. (Smith) Miller. In addition to his mother Donnis, he is survived by a sister, Amanda K. Henninger; brother-in-law, Michael Henninger; his niece, Ashleigh Henninger; his nephews: Kristopher and Brayden Henninger; and his best friend, Bob Freeman, who was as close as a brother to him. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth "Ken" A. Miller, II, his grandparents, Harry and Thelma Smith of Altoona, and Kenneth A. Miller and Ruth Miller of Altoona. Ken was a 1984 graduate of Altoona Area High School. Ken graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Ken obtained a Masters of Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1991. Ken worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania since 1993 in the Corporate Tax Division. Ken appreciated exploring the many historical places in Pennsylvania. He enjoyed different restaurants, concerts, music, a Broadway play in New York, traveling to historic sports venues, following his Steelers and Pirates, and being an alumnus of Penn State. Friends will be received, Monday, April 6, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona. A funeral service will be held, Tuesday, April 7, at 11 AM at the Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N 4th Street, Altoona, with the Reverend Byron Shafer-Stroud officiating. Interment at Bair Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Kenneth A. Miller, III's name to UPCI/UPMC Cancer Center Development, UPMC Cancer Pavilion, Suite 1B, 5150 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232, with family name and address to be provided for notification of gift.
