Mildred E. Pletcher

May 31, 1933 — April 2, 2015

Mildred Edna Pletcher, 81, left for Heaven early Thursday morning surrounded by her family at her home. She was born in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Russell Leonard and Mildred E. (Norris) McElroy. She married Gene E. Pletcher, June 11, 1954 in Carson Valley, Duncansville. In addition to her husband, Gene, of 61 years, she is survived by daughters: Mildred "Mim" Mock, Karen Byrnes and husband Brendon, Charlotte Pletcher and husband Paul, Deborah Lafferty and husband David; a son: Timothy and wife Diane; seven grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; and a sister: Norma Irvin and husband Ben. She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Lytle; a granddaughter, Paula Mountain; and son-in-law, Rickey Mock. Mildred was an Altoona High School and Altoona School of Nursing graduate. She was a member of St. John's Reformed Church, East Sharpsburg, and retired from the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home in June of 1995 as a Supervisor RN. Mildred enjoyed sewing, crocheting, camping, gardening, canning, family picnics, bingo, and watching game shows. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 PM, Tuesday, April 7, 2015 where a memorial service will begin at 3 PM at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Inc., with Pastor Ken Downs officiating. Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery.
