Florence B. Speacht

Florence B. Speacht, 102, of Ecumenical Community, Harrisburg and formerly of Juniata went to be with the Lord on Friday. Born in her beloved Juniata, she was the daughter of the late Henry F. and Jennie Clark Jackson. Florence graduated in Juniata High School's last graduating class of 1929 and was previously employed at Shaffer's Stores, Philadelphia Drug Store, and Automotive Supply. She was a long time member of Juniata Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star Delphi Chapter and the Sunshine Girls' Craft Club in Juniata. Florence enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting and family visits. Florence is survived by her sons, Alan Shuss husband of Bonnie of Lancaster, Pa., Gary Shuss husband of Patricia of Carlisle, Pa. and Glenn Speacht husband of Joanne of Williamsburg, Pa. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Florence was preceded in death by her first husband Ross Shuss to whom she was married from July 1939 until his death in April 1947 and her second husband Steve Speacht to whom she was married from July 1955 until his death in January 1982. She was also preceded in death by a sister Helen Campbell, brother Earl Jackson, step-daughter Loleda Eash, and great-grandson Cody Speacht. Friends will be received from noon until the 1 PM funeral service on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona with Pastor Paul Campbell officiating. Interment immediately following the service at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice for All Seasons, 280 South Hill Drive, Grantville, PA 17028 or The Country Meadows Co-Worker Foundation, 830 Cherry Drive, Hershey, PA 17033.
