Dorothy R. Hamil, 83, Altoona, passed away late Monday evening at Golden Living-Hillview. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Levi F. and Laura M. (Caldwell) Frederick. She married Frederick B. Hamil, January 30, 1952, in Altoona, who preceded her in death on March 8, 2015. She is survived by three daughters: Rebecca Plouse and husband John, of Altoona, Lauretta Stewart and husband Jim, of Cumberland, MD, and Jennifer Dorman and husband Fred of Bellwood; nine grandchildren: Michelle Haigh, Courtney Freidenbloom and husband Joe, Martin Haigh and wife Angela, Melinda George and husband Jim, Jacob Morder and wife Beth, Jennifer Sagal and husband Dave, Benjamin Turek and wife Valerie, Jessica Peacock and husband Roger, and Freddie Dorman and girlfriend Pam Weyant; 18 great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Luke, Ethan, Piper, Paige, Memphis, Cody, Eli, Morgan, Judah, Esther, Trey, Lincoln, Avery, Alexis, Adalyn, Genevieve, and Acadia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother, Raymond. Dorothy was a 1950 graduate of Altoona High School and during her working years, she worked at Gables Department Store, for Dr. Lebendig, and retired from Dorman Jewelry. She enjoyed reading, sewing, baking, and movies, but especially enjoyed caring for her family. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
