Francis James Trostle, Sr., 74, Altoona, passed away early Thursday morning at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late William J. and Agnus (Stevens) Trostle. He married Joann C. Taylor, March 21, 1959 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Altoona. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Robert (Anna), Francis "Butch", Bernard "Bud", and Sherry Rickabaugh (Pat), all of Altoona; seven grandchildren: Nicole, Robert, Jr., Sandra, Danielle, and Shawn Trostle, and Justin and James Rickabaugh; nine great grandchildren; and four siblings: Rosemary Smith, William (Ann), Rod, and Dolores Boop (Don). Francis served in the Army and retired as a truck mechanic from Piper's Autobody. He was a member of the VFW and the former A&J Iaia Post, American Legion, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. Friends will be received, Sunday, June 28, 2015, from 5 to 8 PM, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata, where a funeral service will be held, Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11 AM. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
