Marjorie M. Burket, 90, passed away on Saturday morning at the Presbyterian Village, Hollidaysburg. Marjorie was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Bernard and Alma (Page) Kuhn. She was first married to Arlie L. Thompson who was killed in action in WWII on January 5, 1944. She married Richard F. Burket in 1946 who preceded her in death on August 4, 1986. She is survived by her three children: Marjorie Schaffer(Herman), of Altoona, Harold Thompson(Jeri), of Altoona and Richard F. Burket, Jr.(June), of Stansbury Park, Utah; seven grandchildren: Robyn, Rochelle, Chad, Derek, Brittany, Courtney, and Cody; five great grandchildren: Kylee, Lance, Camryn, Charles, and Penelope; one sister, Janet Fleck, of Duncansville; and several nieces and nephews. Marjorie was very instrumental in the lives of Nancy McMinn Coon and her children, Michael and Jason Coon and Timothy McMinn. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Miriam R. Chambers and Jocelyn Smith. Marjorie had been an active member of the former Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and a choir member for over 50 years. Marjorie spent her life as a wonderful homemaker who loved and enjoyed caring for her family. Her door was always open and a safe haven to those in need. Over the years, she volunteered for school and church activities. She was also a volunteer at the Altoona Hospital. Friends will be received from 10am until 11am, Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Juniata United Methodist Church, where a celebration of her life will begin at 11am, with Pastor T. R. Hardic, officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Presbyterian Village, Hollidaysburg or to the Juniata United Methodist Church.
