Thelma R. Finochio, 95, Altoona, formerly of Juniata, passed away early Friday morning at the Valley View Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late William E. and Eliza Rae (Blair) Harpster. She married Joseph N. Finochio, January 20, 1940 in Juniata, who preceded her in death on February 16, 1995. Thelma is survived by four children: Joseph R. of West Pueblo, Colorado, Thomas W. of Florida, Frances "Frankie" Rae Pringle of Altoona, and Steven N. of Juniata; 11 grandchildren; and 17 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Marjorie Teufel and Phyllis Aiken; and four brothers: Frank, Robert, Clair and Lester, who died at birth. Thelma was a 1939 graduate of Altoona High School and worked as a seamstress for Gable's Department Store. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Holy Rosary Ladies Guild, and Blair Senior Citizens. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, and playing cards and winning the grandkids money. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata, where a prayer vigil will be held. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 900 N 4th Street, Juniata. Committal at Calvary Cemetery.
