JoElla Ann (Fornwalt) Burk

JoElla Ann (Fornwalt) Burk, 62, Altoona, died Wednesday afternoon surrounded by her family after an eight year battle with cancer. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of Betty (Edmonson) Fornwalt and the late Robert Fornwalt. She married Richard L. Burk who preceded her in death on February 2, 2003. Surviving are her daughters, Melissa J. Burk, Amanda J. Burk, her son, Eric L. Burk(Wanda), two grandchildren, Mason and Austin Burk, all of Altoona. Also surviving are her mother Betty J. (Edmonson) Fornwalt of Altoona, a brother James Fornwalt in Texas, three sisters, Soni Budine in New Mexico, Rebecca Baker of Williamsburg, PA, Crystal Bales in Kansas and many nieces and nephews. JoElla graduated from Altoona Area High School. She retired from M & T Bank after 35 years service. JoElla enjoyed camping and boating with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed decorating her home inside and out for the Christmas holiday. Family and friends will be received from 10am until the Noon funeral service Saturday, September 12, 2015, officiated by Pastor Lou Hileman, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. Interment at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
