Donald Eugene Burket, 91, of Altoona, formerly of Martinsburg, died Sunday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Martinsburg, son of the late Oscar R. and Edith (Oakes) Burket. He married Rose Marie Patton on March 28, 1948 in Altoona. She preceded him in death on October 9, 1997. Don leaves behind a remarkable family legacy in his daughters: Donna M. Wiegand (Ken), Pamela J. Burket; his sons: Gregory E. Burket (Joanne) and Jeffery L. Burket; seven grandchildren: Dr. Christopher Wiegand (Stephanie), Dr. Douglas Wiegand (Kendra), Miranda Sorrels (Dan), Marc Caputo, Kayla Burket, Britni Burket, and Mackenzie Burket; four great grand-children: Ella Rose, Kallie, and Caris Wiegand and Alice Rose Sorrels. Also surviving is a sister, June Martin (Rowland). Don was a graduate of Martinsburg High School, a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army Corps of Engineers, a retired glazier of 50 years, lifetime member of the Juniata VFW and member of the First Church of the Brethren. Don is preceded in death by a brother, Galen Burket and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Burket. He will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends. He enjoyed dancing, country western music, fishing, long drives and The Meadows. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service, Thursday, October 15, 2015 with Pastor Rob Davis officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
