Helen L. Brickley, 80, Altoona, passed away late Tuesday night after a long illness.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Thomas Benjamin and Florence Etta (Corl) Wogan. She married Charles Thomas Brickley on June 26, 1954 in Altoona. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2003.
Helen is survived by a son, Thomas Brickley of San Francisco, CA; a daughter, Pamela Magidson and husband Jason of Ardmore, PA; three granddaughters: Leah, Julia, and Elena Magidson; a brother, Gerald Wogan of Belmont, MA; a nephew, William Park and his wife Kay; and many extended family members and close friends who were a source of great support and comfort over the years.
Helen was a 1953 graduate of Altoona High School and attended private music education with Russell Gerhart. She was a homemaker, a member of St. James Lutheran Church, and private music teacher of violin for more than 50 years. She had worked as an educational aide to children with special needs, and volunteered for the Altoona Area Public Library’s Adult Literacy Program.
Her many interests included animal welfare, classical music, and gardening.
Friends will be received Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata, and Monday, November 23, 2015 from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service. Reverend James Rill is officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
