George Jacobs

George Jacobs, 86, Altoona, passed away Tuesday evening at his home.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late George N. and Yesmene (Abdallah) Jacobs. He married Kathryn M. (Collier) Clabaugh October 26, 2013.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Jeffrey of Minnesota; three grandsons: Nicholas, Michael, and Gregory; a daughter, Cathy Foy and husband Brian of Minnesota; a granddaughter, Meghan Foy; a daughter, Susan Mouri and husband Randy of Virginia; a step-daughter, Sonya Vonada and husband Rob of Hollidaysburg; four step-grandsons: Robert, Donald, Andrew, and Matthew Vonada; and a sister, Eleanor Simm of Altoona.

George was a 1947 graduate of Altoona High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Penn State University and a Master of Science degree from the University of Minnesota.

He served in the United States Navy during two enlistments and is a Korean War Veteran.

George retired as a labor arbitrator and taught at the University of Minnesota. He attended Grace Bible Church and was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.  

After spending many years away, George moved back to his hometown of Altoona. His happiest years were after he rekindled his friendship with Katie, who he later married. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Friends will be received Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata and Friday, December 11, 2015 from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Grace Bible Church, 164 Laurel Lane, Hollidaysburg. Pastor Daren Ritchey officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.

In lieu flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Bible Church, 164 Laurel Lane, Hollidaysburg, 16648 or to First Church of the Brethren, 510 5th Street, Altoona, 16602.
