Harry Weest Hanna, 91, Altoona, passed away early Wednesday morning at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Robert Wesley and Anna Bitner (Bankert) Hanna. He married Alice M. Lawruk on September 9, 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Hanna of 43 years; three children: Mike Ball (Dawn), Mary Jo Palmer, and Gary Hanna (Mary); five grandchildren: Matthew, Madison, Jarrett, Makayla, and John; and a sister, Marjorie Jane Smith of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert and sisters, Betty and Weenie.
Harry was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He retired from the Boiler Makers Union, Local 154 with 55 year of service. He was a member of the Logan Lodge 0490, Jaffa Provost Guard, life member of the Logan Township United Fire Hall, Newburg Fire Hall, Juniata VFW Fort Apache and the Bavarian Aide Society.
Harry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, cutting fire wood and also spending time with friends at Captain Hooks and the VFW Fort Apache.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2016 and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service, Monday, May 16, 2016 at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona with Rev. Elizabeth Hess, officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard. A Masonic Service will be held at 7pm Sunday.
