Herbert H. Detrich, 98, Altoona, passed away early Thursday morning at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
He was born in Juniata, a son of the late Lawrence P. and Anna Christina (Snowberger) Detrich. He married Agnes P. Reeder on June 10, 1942 in Winchester, VA. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2008.
Surviving are two children: Herbert E. and wife Deborah of Altoona and Paulette D. Holup and husband Ronald, of N. Huntingdon, PA; four grandchildren: Mark Detrich and wife Tracy of Sneads Ferry, NC, Mathew Detrich of Altoona, Jeffrey Holup and wife Deborah of Jeannette, PA, and Kristen Marofsky and husband Steven of Harrison City, PA; two great granddaughters: Ariel and Victoria Detrich of Sneads Ferry, NC; and special friends, Dona Bardell and family.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Margaret Roseveve and Annabelle Sommers and six brothers: Paul, Ellis, Robert, James, Lewis, and Richard.
Herb retired from Sylvania Electric Products where he worked in Production Electronic Maintenance.
He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and the Carosel Association and a lifetime member of the Antique Auto Club.
Herb was well known in Bedford as the “organ grinder” cranking his street organ during Fall Foliage and antiques on the square events. He was also an accomplished clock repairman and longtime vendor at Founders Crossing, Bedford, PA.
Friends will be received today, Friday, December 9, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Altoona.
