Mary L. Alexander, 78, Altoona, passed away Friday evening at Graystone Manor, Bellmeade.
She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Luigetta (Misciagna) Ciambotti. On June 20, 1959 she married Francis D. Alexander at Holy Rosary Church in Altoona. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2014.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Teri Moore and her husband Curtis of State College and a son, David Alexander of Harrisburg; three grandchildren: Alexandra, Owen, and Conrad Moore; and one sister, Paula Shelow of State College.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Alexander; twin grandsons, Lawrence and James Moore; and eight brothers and sisters: Laura Leiden, Gilbert Ciambotti, Mil Ciambotti, Rudolph Ciambotti, Naz Ciambotti, Lallie Fahr, Ann McManus and Rose Bryner.
Mary retired in 1998 as Deputy Director of the Emergency Management Agency. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Juniata and a 1956 graduate of Altoona High School.
In her spare time, she enjoyed going to bingo and watching her grandchildren at various sporting events.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
