James F. Schumacher

James F. Schumacher, 88, Altoona, passed away early Wednesday morning at his residence.
He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Fred W. and Irene (Plummer) Schumacher. On February 1, 1947, he married Bertha E. Olewine in Altoona. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2006.
James is survived by two daughters: Laura Anderson of Live Oak, FL and Jessica Lietzen of Summerfield, FL; five grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a brother, David of Altoona; four sisters: Freda Luciana of Greenwood, Mary Kay of New Jersey, Jean of New Jersey, and Susan of Altoona; and special friend, Margaret.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen, a daughter, Deborah and three brothers: William, Ronald, and Robert.
James served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1948.
He retired in 1981 as an Assistant Superintendent from Ford Motor Company.
Friends will be received Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona and Monday, February 13, 2017 from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center in care of volunteer services, 2907 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
